Ingredients

- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Whisk cream, egg, and vanilla in a separate bowl, then stir into dry ingredients.
- Drop dough onto a baking sheet in 6 equal portions.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until firm.
- Cool shortcakes, then slice horizontally.
- Layer with whipped cream and strawberries.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Replace strawberries with raspberries if preferred.
- Dust with powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
