- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Pour batter into cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
- For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cupcakes and serve.
Notes
- Store cupcakes in the refrigerator if frosted.
- Use room-temperature cream cheese and butter for smoother frosting.
- Decorate with sprinkles or chocolate shavings if desired.
